Our SoftC Database Library evaluation kits are limited in 3 areas: 1) DBF files of up to 100 records, 2) up to 10 simultaneously open files, and 3) single-user only. Otherwise, the libraries are the full product. No functions have been removed. You are free to share these libraries with others as long as the entire package remains intact with no changes or deletions.

For a simple "Quick Start" using the SoftC Database Library, we suggest that you compile and link the example program "simple.c". This program will demonstrate the following capabilities of the SoftC Database Library:

  • Creation of a database file
  • Adding records to a database file
  • Creation of a memo file
  • Adding records to a memo file
  • Sequential access and display of database and memo records
  • Creation and update of an index file
  • Indexed access and display of database and memo records
  • Indexed search and display of database and memo records
